OBITUARY.
MR G. MERRETT. Mr G. jMcrrett, a respected resident of Christchurch, died suddenly yesterday, at the advanced age of 84 years. The end came unexpectedly, as he was apparently fn robust health for a man of his years. - Yesterday morniug he complained of a pain in his heart. Dr. Gibson was called in, but nothing could be done* The deceased was consciousj to within a few moments of his death,' which took place at 10 o'clock. Mr Morrett came from England to New Zealand fifty-two years ago. He was\ for many, ye'ars a farmer in the Manawatu, but'eighteen years ago he came \ to reside in Christchurch. Ho had remarkable health, and was of a jovial and kind-hearted -disposition. For the last tort years he had lived a retired life. He had a wide range of friends, all "of whom held him in the highest esteem. Ho leaves a family of thrco sons and one daughter, Mr J. B. Merrett, of this city, being the eldest sou.
