THE BOAT RACE.

UMPIRE'S OPINION OF GOODSELL. (BY CABLE—PKESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTBALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, June 29. The "Daily Telegraph," commenting on the boat race, concedes Hannan's gameness, but declares that he is not in the same class as Gooduell. W. Beach, the umpire, describes Goodsell as a remarkably clever sculler, capable of doing much better, and with a wonderful future before him. His victory was most decisive, hut Hannan showed gameness in a heartbreaking stern chase nearly all the way. Referring to Hannan, Beach said that he was shooting his slide badly, causing the boat to bury at the bow.
