LYTTELTON NEWS.

♦ Harbour Light Theatre. A well-filled house saw the screening of the First National production, "Three Wiso Fools," at the Harbour Light Theatre on Saturday night. The supporting programme included a comedy, gazette, and scenic. Two local singers appeared with much success. They were Misa Ella Thurlow, a contralto with a very pleasing voice, and Mr Les. Twomey, who recently competed with considerable success at the Christchureh competitions. Both artists were accorded a very favourable reception. The picture portion of the programme will be repeated tonight. To-morrow "Three Women," featuring, Panline Frederick, May McAvoy, nnd Marie Prevost, will be shown, together with a comedy, gazette, and an episode of the Jack Dempsey serial, "Fight and Win." United Band of Hope. The fortnightly meeting of the United Band of Hope wns held on Friday evening in. Holy Trinity schoolroom, there being an attendance of well over 100 children and a number of adults. The Rev. A. J. Petrie presided,. and during the evening gave a* brief address illustrating how wastefully money is spent at times. An excellent programme arranged by Mrs Potrio, assisted by Miss S. Stevens, was submitted, and was much appreciated. The following items were given:—Pianoforte solo, Miss I. Wells:-reci-tation, Miss I.' F.aston; chorus, the Misses I. AVells, E. and M. Anderson, and F. Barraclough; recitation, Master F. Priddy; old English folk dance, girls; recitation, Miss E. Anderson; pianoforte solo, Master B. Priddy; song, Misß F. Barraclough: Tcc.itntion, Miss N. Carson; violin solo, Miss M. Anderson; recitation, Mrs Priddy; recitation, Miss M. Robertson; dialogue, tho Misses L. retrie, E. Davies, and M. Robcrton; rccitntion, Miss Jean Carson; chorus, girls; recitation, Miss E.'Donaghoy; chorus, the children.
