COUNTY COUNCILS.
WAIMAIRI. An adjourned meeting. rf the Wairnairi County Council was held last night, when Mr J. Seymour presided. There wers also present—'Messrs E. W. Hawke, W. J. Walter,. G. E. Curry, G. Shipley, W. P. Spencer, C. E. Cross, H. Paterson, T. O. jS'ewnharo, and W. A. Nicholls. The recommendations of tho Commission on the question of the upkeep of several roads about Hagley Park were considered. The finding of the Commission was that the City Council was. responsible for a part of the cost of upkeep, in accordance with the Warrants when the Hagley Park district came under City control. Mr Hawke: I don't see why Waimairi should contribute towards, the upkeep of park roads any more than the City Council should contribute towards the Council's roads. The clerk explained that the cost of maintenance was allotted by the Warrant, and the Council was legally responsible. Mr Paterson moved 'that the clerk should write to the local bodies concerned, stating that the Council disagreed with the recommendations of the Commission, and desired that the Public Works Department should take a traffic tally. The motion was carried. A,letter was received from the City Council, notifving it 3 intention to go ahead with the erection of a bridge on the Shirley road.
