Tho biggest London lire since the lire at Madamo Tussaud's broko out early this morning in a timber yard at Balsam, surrounded by small shops and houses, tho occupants of which, were mvalceued and had no time to (lress. They abandoned their homes carrying their children. Tho furniture was piled up in tho streets. A fire in the "W'est Ham "Workhouse Infirmary at midnight imperilled 1M aged bed-ridden patients. "Whilo the infirmary's volunteer brigade was fighting the flames tjie master of the workhouse, attired in liis pyjamas, directed tho removal of tho patients by nurse* who, calmly as if it were their ordinary routine, removed all to safety.
