NEW ORGANISATION.

NATIONAL LIBERAL PARTY. (SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.' ) AUCKLAND, Juno 23. There was an attendance) of about 300 people at the Town Hall last evening, when it was decided to form a National Liberal Party of Now Zear land. Mr 0. H. Furncss presided. Tlioro was considerable criticism of both the Reform and Liberal Parties, and when tho resolution proposing the formation of the now party was put to tho meeting, it was carried with only about twelve dissentients, but with no> particular show of enthusiasm. Tho resolution was moved by Mr R. E. Hornblow, who opposed the fusion ot tho Reform and Parties, and said tho intention of ttie new Party was not to split the Liberals of the Dominion, but to cement the various sections and demonstrate that the spirit of Liberalism was not dead. lie said their desire was to go 'ark to the good old Seddon days. The resolution was seconded by Mr M. .T. Moynihan. of Hamilton, who explained tho policy of the Party, a summary of which had been circulated. Ife said tho control of tho Party would remain in tho hands of its supporters, and not be seized by thoso elected to tho Hou.sc of Representatives, while there was also provision for a pledge from electee! representatives who. in tho event of finding that they could not continue to support the" policy of tho Party, would resign. He complained that- no one knew- where the present Liberal Party stood. A voi.ee: It is out. in tho middle of the load. (Laughter.) A little was said about t]ic aims of the new Party liy Mr Hall iSkeltou, who exhaustively examined the e. rly days of land settlement in NSw Zealand and liad much to sav about tho shortcomings of tho Reform Party. The only other speaker was Mr C. E. Major, who sale! he had never seen anything so satisfactory as the policy outlined.

The resolution, which rs then carried, also set tip a. provisional ])"iniirovi Executive as follows : Messrs G. M. Fowl els W. J. Jriff rey, It. E. Hcrnblow, M. J. Movnihan, J. T. Pnrvin, and I'. Macjguire, with Mr Tl. G, Hocking ns general sa°retary. This executive is to not until such time as the Party is sufficiently orswised throughout tils Dominion to enable a, representative Dominion Conference to he held.

After a number of questions had been answered, the meeting rinsed with a voto of thanks to the chair.
