HANDSOME FIRST SUBSCRIPTION. MR It. E. MCDOUGALL GIVES £SOO.
Although the City Council at its mectiug last night decided to refer the question of a Municipal Art Gallery t-o the Finance. Committee to report, Mr B. E. MeDougall, proprietor of Anisebrook and Company, has taken time by the forelock and lias shown his practical interest in the proposal by making a subscription of £MO towards tho project. This is only one of many instances in which Mr MeDougall has shown his public-spiritedness, and Ins interest in tho promotion oE art in the city. . , , The Mavor (Mr J. K. Archer), when informing a representative of Ihe Press" that ho had received tho ilrst subscription of £SOO towards tho art gallery from Mr R. E. MeDougall, remarked- "I want vou to boost tins! I am highly gratified with the excellent start that, has been made, and I trust that of her citizens will lollow Mr MeDougall's example."'
