MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At tli<? monthly meeting of tlte committee of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women ami Children there were present: Mesdamcs J. Cracroft "Wilson (in the chair), A. 11. Bristed, Algar Williams, H. Thompson A. J. Whitloek, E. Harper, J. Stevenson, K. M. Morten, H. E. Smith, E. J. Cordner, W. Ingle, J. S. Neville, J. K. Archer, E. Boulton, A. R. Bloxam, L. Clark. C. Chilton, J. S. Hawkins.'B. H. Gilmour, Cecil Wood, and Miss Baglcy. Apologies were received from Mesdamcs M. H. Godby, R. Anderson, G. Aitken, H. A. Knight, and G. Lester. The president extended a warm welcome to Mesdames J. K. Archer, E. Boulton, H. Thompson, A. J. Whitloek, J. S. Hawkins, and W. Ingle, all of whom had agreed to act on the committee. Mesdames Algar Williams, J. Stevenson, and H. R. Smith agreed to act as vice-presidents during the coming year. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on July Ist. Sir Truby King will attend and give an address. A sub-committee was set up to take charge of the arrangements for afternoon tea. It was reported that her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson, who had visited the Karitane Baby Hospital, had expressed keen interest in the work being done there among the"sick babies. A sub-committee was. set up to confer with Mx Frank McDonald regarding the proposed performance of ~'Char ley's Aunt"—the proceeds of which have been promised to the Society's funds. Arrangements were put in hand for "Violet Day" in the early spring. For the Karitane Baby Hospital, Matron Knight reported 8 babies admitted, 10 discharged, 13 in hosjjital, 2 mothers admitted, 2 discharged, and 2 in hospital. Nurses Wickenden and Cox had completed their training, and Nurses Fenwick and Gorman had commenced their training. A demonstration and lecture were given to a class of Girl Guides. There was one death a" the Hospital on June 13th. For the office Nurse Allan reported 7G new cases, 364 visits paid by the nurse* to homes, 707 adults, and-644 babies visited the Plunket Rooms, and 10 expectant mothers were interviewed. At Papanui 33 adults, 29 babies, and 12 older children were seen. At Sydenham 6 new cases, 80 , habies, 89 adults, and 21 older children were seen. Out-stations' work for the month was as follows:—Leeston: Adults 7, babies 7, older children seen 2. Springston: Adults 2, babies 2, 1 home visit paid. Southbridge: Adults 6, babies 6, 1 newcase, and 4 older children seen. Lincoln: Adults 10, babies 9, older children seen 3. Belfast: Adults 30, babies 30, older children seen 3. Kaiapoi: Adults 33, babies 30, 1 new case, and 3 older children seen. Twenty-five visits were paid by expectant mothers to the antenatal clinic during the month. During the month the following new members were enrolled: Mesdames Jack Anderson, Cooper, Candy, Grey, Hardy, MeCormick, Sparrow, and Allison.
