Dance. The Rifle Club's danco, held in the. Club Hall on Saturday evening, was most successful, close on fifty couples dancing to Ihe ■spirited music Of Wells's Orchestra. The hall was prettily decorated with light blue ond white streamers, which were trailed from the centre to the walls. The upper part of the stage waß neatly trelHsed with the same colours. Social Evening, Another of serios of socials in aid of St. Mary's spring shotv, was held in the Sunday schoolroom. ■ The social, which proved very enjoyable, was ir. aid of the lancy work stall. Dancing, games, and items constituted the programme, those contributing items being Mrs Curnow and Sir Hall. Dance mu.:lc was supplied by Messrs Cowlant and Angus. Maori Mission Pariv. On Friday evening the Methodist Church was filled to hear Maori mission partv, which is travelling through New Zealand under tho direction of the Methodist Home Mission I)spartmeLt. A very interesting and unique programme was presented, consisting of Maori hymns, English hymns sung in Mnorl, chants, and poi action songs and dances. The Rev. To Tuhi was in charee of the party, and the meeting was addressed by a chief, who made an uppeal to the pakeha fo; support. Mr W. Bumell was chairman. Previous to tho meeting the visitors were entertained at tea in the Sunday School room by the ladies of the church. Ramble. 6 A number of Christchurch W.E.A. studei.ts passed through Hc-athcote on Saturday afternoon on' their way up the Bridle Path to visit Dover Castle. They were joined here by a contingent from Lyttelton and Heathcote. The party was under the leadership of Mr R. M. Laing.
