The Hon. Sir R. Ileaton Rhodes and the Hon. Sir James Parr left for the north by Saturday night's ferry steamer. Mr Justice 1 MacUregor left for the north on Saturday evening. A Dunedin "telegram states that Mr Fred Wuito. ex-Major in the Xew Zeeland Expeditionary Force, has accepted nomination as the Reform candidate for the Clutha electorate. Mr R. W. Haddow, manager of His Majesty's Theatre, Wanganui, has been promoted to take charge of the Empress Theatre, Wellington. Mr Ferg. B. Mason (formerly of Christchurch) removes from Hamilton to take over the management of His Majesty's, at Wanganui. The Mayor, Mr J. K. Archer, xrhu visited" Wellington last week to attend the quarterly meeting of the executive oi the Municipal Association, and to confer with the officers of tho State Advances Department regarding a Housing Loan for Christchureh. returned to Christchureh on Saturday mommy. Sir Archer will report the result of his mission to the City Council to-night. The Rev. R. .Stowards, of Australia, has accepted a call to the Berhampote Baptist Church. Wellington, and will commence his ministry about the middle of next month. Mr Stowards received his theological training the Baptist College. Victoria, and from there went to Maryboroupb Queenfland. He is at present at Wav«rl*sr, Sydney. Mrs Stowards is a Xew Zealand or by birth. Mr Gustnve Slapoffski will arrive this week from Australia on a flying visit, tho purpose of which is to discuss witlt tho Dunedin Exhibition authorities & number of matters relating to the pee? manent orchestra and the works to ha presented by the Exhibition choir. Ht will then return to Australia, and over in plenty of time to take up his duties as conductor of tho orchestra and tho choiri
