ANNUAL MEETING,
(SPECIAL TO "THE TRESS.") GFvEYMOUTH, June 19. Tho annual meeting of tho Greyinouth Fire Boord was held to-night. Present—Messrs J. Steer, J. V. Gricreon, J. McGinlcy, \f. H. Parfitt, J. Robertson, K. T. WatJcina and G. Perotti. Mr steer was re-elected chairman. It, was resolved that in -future, tho secretary notity insurance ciuupaniea aetaunrng with their returns that thu uoard intcnaea to exeiciso its power to impose a fine. Superintendent Clarke reported that for tho year ending Juno lfftn, itteo, 10 calls had been received, but tho oniy serious outbreak was at Strattord, Blair's sawmill. Tno water mains had been extended to tno southern portion of Bifikctown, but the 6ti:;T>lv uud prcssuro in liarsden road woro toiady inp.deO.uate. Tho loliowing members had qualirica during tho year tor service honours: -—Two yeare' gold bar, Superintendent C.aise and Secretory \Valton; two years' silver liar, i'iremen Lynch, A. White, G. Kcieon, \f. Pring, J. ilcGirr and T. Mcintosh. A resolution was passed congratulatingthe superintendent en hi 3 S5 yeaia' service, <md the secretary, ilr J. Walton, on his 37 years' service. It was also resolved to purchase tho bars as recommended. Tho Board decided to paint tho Central Station, tenders to be called for tho work. The secretary tabled tho estimates, which provided for expenditure totalling £IOOS. It was resolved to purchase tho eito in High street, and to construct a brick build- I ing thereon at a cost of £500.. * I A resolution of sympathy with the Christ-' church Brigade in tho recent accident was carried, members standing- in silence.
