PHOTOGRAPHY.
LECTURE AND PICTURES.
Beth professional god amateur photographers wore present at the Choral Hall last night, When, the final session of the New Eastman School of Professional Photography was held, The sessions which were also hold during th«, day wero well attended. Lost night the hall (downstairs) was full When the second half Of ft. most interesting motion pioture showing the details of studio work was screened. The first half of yeaterdiy morning's programme Was tho inspection of' an excellent set of portraits, which WOre described as the work.Of tho most eminent English and American photographers. There Was also a very fine display Of modern studio apparatus and occesdories. The second half Of the fflorainj's programme Was filled With h short but instructive lecture on tho use of the Kodak portrait film, time and labour-saving Appliances. During tho afternoon a demonstration of the use of the Eastman projection prihter was given. With this instructions were given- for successful working of panchromatic films and plates and the use of screens for giving the correct translation Of colour values. At night the second half of the motion picture, Showing the interior of a model studio, was screened. The audience Was taken from tho studio to the printing room and shown tho methods of border-print-ing, dodging, diffusing, and the correct handling dxpcaffif?, and developing of tno films. The picture gave an excellent inside view of the technique of manufacturing good portraits and the detail work necessary for making an artistic portrait was fully depicted.
In the evening the audience included photographers from Dunedin, Invercargill, Wore, NolsOn, Hokitika and Other places in the South Island. At the conclusion of tho programme Mr If. C. Goro (Dunodin) moved that a vote Of thanks should bo accorded tho Kodak Company, lie stated that tho photo-: craphofs had gained a great deal of information in tho two days' lectures and demonstrations, and ho suggested that the Kodak Company should endeavour to hold an annual Eastman School here. The motion was seconded by ilr j. J. Webster (Dunedin) and carried by acclamation.
Mr H. A. Beauchamp, general manager for tho Kodak Company for Now Zealand, replied, and expressed pleasure that the efforts of the company should have been appreciated by the photographers and their assistants. ~Ho .stated, that ,it was the ■company's intention" to T>ring' to'New'Zealand thor "photographs from,,tho 1924 American CoaVotttion. - .-
