Coates, in repiy to a telegram they sent him on Wednesday stressing the necessity for installing an electric power plant in place of tne engines at the workshops. Tne Labour members then telegraphed to 3ir Coates: —"Would lino you to authorise the workshops manager to permit scientist engaged by us to take samples or" atmospuere in workshops this week if possible." Mr Coates replied:— 'iYour telegram regarding Addiugton Workshops received and you may rest assured that if it is found that atmospheric conditions in workshops, such as to require attention, the matter : will be immediately dealt with. Matter has been urgently taken in hand and I will communicate result to you at a later, date." , . • ■ k In accordance with the new code of Canon Law the Roman Catholic diocese of« Wellington, wmch embraces' the districts or Taranaki, fiawke s Lay, Manawatu, Wairaiapa ami the West Coast, as lar as Itceiton, has been divided into, six districts or Deaneries, and each district or Deanery will be under the control ot a Vicar Forane. The Vicar Forane will visit each parish within his district and make a report of such visitations to the Archbishop. In his office he has also certain administrative powers witnin his district. The Vicars Forane appointed by Archbishop Kedwood include the Right Rev. iuonsignor Mc&enna, Vicar General, who will control the Wairarapa Deanery, consisting of the parishes of Masterton, Carterton, Eketahuna, and Pahiatua. The Very Rev. D. Kennedy, S.M., D.D., of'Highden, lias been appointed Defensor Vinculi Matrimonii, and the Very Rev. P. F. Cullen, 8.A., has been appointed Chancellor of the Archdiocese.
