SOUTH CANTERBURY. / (SPECIiL 50 ' THE PEESS.") TIIIAKU, Juno. 18. Dr. C. A. Paterson . presided over an attendance of seven at the monthly meeting of the-South Canterbary Automobile Association, bold this evening. A resolution of sympathy was passed to Mr and Mrs E. J. McKeown in the. death of their son, members standing. In regard to the recent headlights demonstration, the' chaisinan said he considered that the Association should take some notico of the efforts of the garage proprietors. Undoubtedly the adjusting of headlights was a step in the right direction, and he expressed the opinion that garages should see to it that tha lights were properly set. before the car left the garage. It was agrcad to write a letter of appreciation to the' Association. - The Geraldine Borough Council advised that the upper Orari bridge would tie closed' until further notice. The chairman referred to the practice of the Borough Council of dumping shingle at road corners, saying that he considered it very dangerous, and it was decided to draw the attention ofithe Council to the matter. It was resolved to write to the Borough Council, asking for the enforcement of the by-laws requiring that a red disc should be attached to cycles. It was resolved to obtain an interpretation of the rule as to whether motor garage proprietors can become members of the executive committee. i
