OBITUARY.
The death occurred this week at Claudelands, Hamilton, of Mr Harry Woolven, at the age of 74. The late Mr "Woolven was bom at Gotham, Surrey, and came to New Zealand as "a young'man of 19*, under engagement to Sir Chas. Clifford. A few years later he went farming in Kaikoura and subsequently, took up land in Manawatu, where he resided until five or six years ago. He was closely associated- with acclimatisation matters for many, years; and took a keen interest in the introduction of fish and game. He was largely instrumental in securing the introduction of ferrets, stoats arid weasels to combat the rabbit pest, which assumed (great din(ensiorie in Marlborough. He was also, an enthusiastic sportsman with the gun, and was at ope time numbered among New Zealand s premier shots. He leaves a widow, two sons—Mr W. Wolven. of Clandelands, and Mr Charles Woolven, of Wanganui—and two daughters, Mrs Hastings, of Morrinsvillo, and Mrs G-. Queree, of Timaru.
