The popularity of the residential winter schools for farmers in Canterbury as held in recent years at Ashburton and Timaru has indicated definitely tho farmer's desire for a, better knowledge of his calling. The travelling school organised by the Department of Agriculture this year is something in thenature of an experiment, but the indications are that a larger number of farmers will attend when the schools are within easy reach of their homes, llie programme of lectures as advertised in this issue represents :i choice of subjects which should appeal to the man on tho land.. The lectures are free to all fanners and time is allowed for discussion of the various subjects.
