MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB.
■ « PRIVATE OWNERS MOVEMENT. A movement 13 on foot to form a motor-cycle club for privato owners in Christchurch. It is proposed: that the namo of the new club will be the Ramblers' Motor-cycle Club. . The. project ia being fostered by Mr R. Russell, of Gibbs Motors, and Mr B. Palmer, late secretary of the Sports Motor-cycle Club, Auckland. Those promoting the scheme have in view the formation of a club to provide more social outings for private owners, and ■ultimately the provision of a racing track in Christchurch. In this latter respect, j-epre-are to be made to the Monica Park JBoard of Control to see if a track cannot be formed on tho Board's 33-acTe block in Ferry road. It is .pointed out that Christchurch riders have to visit tho West Coast, Nelson, Blenheim;- and the North Island for track racing, and that beach racing is inconvenient and unsatisfactory as at present conducted. There is no attempt to run in opposition to the Pioneer Sporte dub, but it is felt that greater facilities could be given by that club to private owners,-. It is said that several beach racers have promised support, and motor-cycle £rma have done the same. • . In the meantime, Mr Palmer is acting as secretary. On Sunday, leaving the Post o£3;c at 30.15 ti.m., a run trill be held to Stewart's Gully, where it is proposed to hold a mrctias. sxd. fiecirie oi uiys said ™-*n* o£ furticriiig' the object in iier».
