PARISHIONERS' MEETING.
AMURI-HANMER SPRINGS* The annual meeting of parishioners wis held in the Rotherham Public Hall on Wednesday afternoon, the vicar, the Rev. J. W. P. Dyer, presiding. Owing to the very inclement weather conditions tho attendance was email. The balance-sheet presented .by the people's warden (Major J. A. Kurtnoote) disclosed a satisfactory state of finance, the year closing with a credit balance of £3l 6a 9d to the general church fund. Xhe vicar gave a short account of what lad been done einca his arrival in the parish, and made on earnest appeal for Sunday SoUool teachers for the Rotherham district, Ho also paid a tribute to tho Belvices of the lay-readers iHr Ai. iietheil and Major J. A. Aoxthcote), tho various organkts", and all those who gave their services so willingly at all times to the service of the church. A warm and appreciative tribute was also paid to the work of the late vicar, Canon T. J. Smith, and it was unanimously agreed to place a record on the minutes to that effect. The election of .officer-bearers for the year resulted as follows:—Vicar'a warden, Mr 1L Bethell; people's warden, Major J. X A. JN'orthcote (both re-elected), vestry, Mesora F Coote and J. Cooper (Haimer), H- B. Davison, T. C. Robinson, B. Roberts, P. blinder, H. T. Knight, L. Jameson. M* B, Sh&ea was appointed auditor. Major Northoote (people's warden) gtm soiao interesting facta with rgard to the construction of the new church at Waiau, and expressed tho opinion that when all the acoouuts wero met there •would not be a very heavy debt on the building.
