ASHBURTON COUNTY.

RAKAIA. A meeting of the committee of the Rakaia Ploughing Match Association was held in the Road Board office on Friday evening, Mr R. Oakley presiding over a good attendance. It was decided that competitors in Class F (district maiden) optional double or three-furrow plain ploughing, be under 20 years of age. Mr Wm. Boag offered a prize of £2 2s for the best set of harness irrespective of everyday usa. The offer was accepted with thanks. The special committee appointed to inspect paddocks for the ploughing match handed in a report and it was decided to hold the match on Mr McLachlan's paddock of 63 acres, which is about 1} miles from tho railway station. Messrs Oakley, L. Cordner, B. McNamara, and A. Holmes wero appointed a committee to make arrangements for catering and to report at next meeting.
