NEW BRIGHTON NOTES.

Tides. It will be high tide on the beach to-day-at 9.31 a.m. and in the river at about 10 a.m., and to-morrow at 10.19 a.m. and 11.46 a.m. respectively.. The Churches. * The services at the Beach Church tomorrow are as follows:—Holy Communion 8 a.m., Matins 11 a.m., Evensong 7 p.m. The vicar will officiate at all services. The services at the Methodist Church will be conducted at 11 by the Rev. F, T. Bead, and at 6.30 by the Rev. S. Lawry. A service will be held at North New Brighton School at 6.30 p.m. At the Presbyterian Church the morning service will be a Communion Service. In the evening the Rev. J. S. Young will preach on "A Royal Imitation." Whist Club. At the Happy Hours "Whist Club's evening the prizes were won by Mrs Asquith and Mr Philpot. The consolation prizes went to Mrs Adams and Mr Luxton. The half-season aggregate prizes will be presented at the next drive. Croquet Club. The New Brighton Croquet Club held its fortnightly euchre tourney on Wednesday. Prizes were*won by Mrs Parsons and Mr Nicholls. The second prizes went to Mrs Broadbelt and Mr Cook, 1 and the consolation prizes to Mrs Barnett and Mr Sutton, Senior Cadets. The local Company of Senior Cadets resumed training on Wednesday evening after the long spell of seven months. There was a muster of 101. The following promotions appeared in Company Orders:—To be Half-Company Commander, Sergeant-Major E. A. Owles; to be Company-Sergeant-Major, Sergeant 11. P. Hopkins; to be Corporal, Lancc-Cor-poral E. Crawford. Ladies' Hockey Club. The Ladies' Hockey Club held a very enjoyable social and danco in the Pier Hall on Thursday. The music was supplied by Mrs Innes. In the card tourney the prizes were won as follows: — Ladies: Mrs Mapstone Ist, Mrs Philpot 2nd, Miss Luxton 3rd, Mrs Miller 4th. Gentlemen: Mr N.
