BUSH BOOK CLUB.
TO TBS XSITOB 0* "IK* P*SBB." Sir,~A week or two ago you were good enough to publish my letter on the above subject. The response to that letter has brought me a fair number of magazines, books, "etc.; but not nearly enough. Dozens of people have stopped me in the street, and com-' men tod favourably on the scheme, but that's all they hare done. Averaging the bundles at si* magazines or books, I have sent out about 120 bundles in tho past month, at a cost of £6 in'pOßtnge, and I have received - one shilling only from a supporter, who brought in a nice bundle and handed me a shilling tp cover the postage on them! Mrs Herbert . Silworthy, Divisional Commissioner; tor Girl Guidtw ; for South Canterbury, isi taking up : the scheme as one suitable lor the Girl Guides, and a work in which they can cany 'out the principles of sisterhood and solf-aacrifioe, that the movement aims at, and intends making Timarti' the distributing centre for the Mackenzie Country. 1 I have , not the. timt> or assistance here to \scour the town:' for magasihes, and have to make roy requeßt through the newspapers, ■ The time tiken in pacJMng/ addressing and Jdispaichinß the, magazines, is -considerable; but I don't mind doing-that with the assist* ance of my staff. I want those Who have spare reading matter (even. books) to send them in to- me, and- if they feel inclined to lMve ia small donatjoh to cover the postage (averaging about sixpence per bundle of six, and more for books) I' shall appreciate it. » If any person will notify me, or 'Phone No. 1561, that he has reading matter to give, and when and where to call or send for it, I will do 60.-r Yours, etc., A. GOODHART. June 11th, 1925.
