Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson will attend the annual meeting of the Girl Guides' Association (Christchurch Branch) to be held on Tuesday afternoon, at 2.30, in the Canterbury Jockey Club's rooms.

Mrs Alister Mackenzie ("Edgecliff," Pleasant Point) is arriving in Christchurch to-day for a short visit to friends.

Hyndman will learn with regret of her death, which occurred on May 23rd. on hoard the Makura three davs out from San Francisco. The late Sister Hyndman was well known in Ohristchurch, where she trained in the General Hospital, afterwards going to Bowen street Hospital, "Wellington, and later was nursing in St. Francis Hospital, San Francisco. She endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact and. was very'v successful in her profession. Heir death was the result of an attack of pleurisy. Sister Hyndman was bom on the "West Coast and is a niece of Mrs M. Baxter, Sherbourne street, Christchurch.

Miss Mollie Norton, whose marriage to Mr Maurice Macfarlane takes place shortly, was entertained yesterday afternoon at a particularly charming "china party," given in her honour by Miss Betty Overton, Fendalton. A cable message from Melbourne announces the death there on Saturday of Miss Frances B. Lysnar, F.R.G.S., following upon a very serious operation. Miss Lysnar was a much-trav-elled woman, and the authoress of several books. Sho was for many years an ardent; supporter of the Ramabai Mission- to the'Child-Widows and Women of India, and consequent, upon a visit to the mission at Mukti she devoted nil her time and energies to. its interests, giving illustrated lectures' from time "to time in different parts of tho Dominion on its behalf. She left Dunedin only a fern' weeks ago to visit Melbourne in connexion with the mission. The "Otago Daily Times" says her many friends throughout New Zealand will miss this kindly and enthusiastic lady, whoso winning personality arid sincerity won many a supporter to the work she had so much at heart.
