annual meeting cf ,tko Christcliurch ■Sunday School Union was held on Tuesday, when the president (Mr, Tannent)'-pre-sided over a fair attendance of teachers from the town and suburban Sunday Schools. The annual report and balance-sheet were | presented by • Miss "Webster and adopted, t'hs report showed that the work;, of the Ui.ion had gone tn regularly throughout the .ear, and -the following 6chools had been visited:—St. Andrew's, St. ■ Gwrge, Linwood, Eiccarton and Sumner, at which addresses had been.given bv'Rcvs: J. S.PoungJ B. Bickcrstaff, H. M. Byburn and Bower B ftck. Rcferenoa was made to the loss sustained by the Union through the removal by death of, the late Kov. Charles -Murray, a. former president, and an enthusiastic worker in the Union for many years. The annual prize demonstration was held „• in. St. Paul's Church, when there was a good attendance of scholars and friends. Mr Jas. Tennent, president of the Union, -presided. The singing was led by tho scholars of tho Shirlej'-Richmond School, and they also rendered several- musical itema. The special prizes awarded by the Union for the highest aggregate marks in each division-were won thi3 year by the following scholars: Division A—STancy Petrie (St.' Andrew's), 192 marks; Division B—-Given Langford Brighton), 187 marks; Division C Joan Brioe (Shirley-Richmond), 180 marks; Division D—Jean Eliz Howie, . (Spreydon), 181 marks; Division E—Lottie Patterson. :St. Paul's). 283 marks: Division -. "F— May Boyd Clark (Lincoln), 279 marks; Division G— Eflnia■'* Henston '(New. Brighton), 386' marks. The children's address given bv- the Rev. W. T. Todd, his subject being. '.How to obtain 100 per cent, in an cxnmin--ticn." During tho last week in August" i combined Youth "Workers' Institute was !, cl'.l in St. Paul's Sclioalrocm, tho speakers being the Eov. R. M; Ryburn, Mr T. M. Haslett. Revs.. J. W. Jacobson, J. At -Ktesler-ira combined 'conference was. hold in-:St. Paul's- Church und School—the special speakers being Miss Freds, Warner and Mr John Roid, 8.H., of Wellington. Hand work and cxpressicual activity were, taken by Misses Warner," Boyd, Jones and Todd, »nd Mr A. E. Lawry. This winter a Bchool of religious education had been formed in Christchurch. The meetings wore- being held at St. Paul's and were,very well attended, and it was folt that much practical and spiritual helo would be pained by the students. The balance-sheet showed t rredit balaneo of Ml 17s 2d.
