. Orrie Steele, America's hill-climbing champion, who wiped so many oldstanding records off the slate last year, has commenced the present season by sensational riding. At the Middle Atlantic Sectional Climb, Cedar Grove New Jersey, he fiew up the grade in l">.p\ in the No. 80 open event. . The Amateur champion,* Pachase. won. the SO novice event and 80- amateur "at the same meeting. Steele has again pinned his faith to the Indian, and Pachase is also riding one of the "Never Quits."
The figures relating to the export of motor-bicycles from the United States indicate that the American motor-cycle manufacturer is losing the grip onthe oversea markets which he was able to secure during the war. Last year the number of machines exported from Ameriea. amounted to 16,859, as compared with 22,116 in the previous year. It is not that there is any falling-off in the demand for motor-cycles. It 3S entirely due to the British manufacturers recovering their market.?. The exports of motor-cycles from Great Brit ain during 1924 were almost doublo those of the previous year.
