MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Christc-hurch. Presbytery was held yesterday, the Moderator, the Rev. N..L. D. Webster, presiding. Visitation reports in connexion. with the Cheviot and Hanmer Presbyterian' Churches were. received anc? adopted, it being decided that ja bequest of £IOO formerly' promised to the Hanmer Church, bo .now paid ' over. ..'The Rs'v. Dr. Erwin. was to the Presbytery at the. : welcome'to bo tendered : tho ' Governor-General on' his" first viait to Chriatohurcli. • , '•;•■-/ It was also decided on. -the .motion of ;Jlr W. H. Rose, that a deputation representing' the Presbytery should .wait on the GovernorGeneral arid accord him a welcome. The necessary arrangements : were left, in the hands of. the. Moderator. .' -' u .'..;..•.' The ministers of. St. Andrew's, .-St.'Paul's, aiid Knox Churches, together'with Dr. Erwin, the Revs. W. McAra, J. I). ] Webster,, and W. F. -iCichol, wore appointed; memb'ers of tho deputation. ■ '"-' In connexion with the . induction 'of the new minister at Rangiora, it was decided that tho Rev. J. D.. Webster should-pre-, side, the. Rev. F.- J.. Tylee.. to- preach the sermon, the Rev. T. W. Armour address the minister,, the Rev: W. U. Hutchison, arid the Revi W. F. Nichol address the -congregation. '.'•.''•-.'' The Papanui congregation were granted permission' to raise a eecondv mortgage of £3OO for the purpose of rebuilding the Sunday School. It was decided that the Presbytery extend a welcome to the evangelist "Gipsy" Smith, in the event of his making a visit to Christchurch. "•.-"..- v ...-,....
Iho'superintendenV of the Social Service Association wrote stating that the following were recommended for appointment to the committee:—The Rev.' N. L. D.\ Webster (convener) and Messrs *■•■'. F.' Sutherland, T. W. Reese,- J. Tait, W.' H. itose and J. Storry. N ■'•■; :; -, '■ The appointments were confirmed, as : also was the .request that Br. Ersrin bc ; elected a. life member of the Association. ".. The Revs'. "W. T. Tanner, W. F. Kichpl, J. Jacobson and J. B. Bickersfaff were apuointed Sunday school examiners, Permission was granted the Lincoln congregation to sell the. stable and trapshed at the Manse and devoto the funds to tb.6 church painting account. \ Mrs Massey wrote acknowledging receipt of a letter from tho clerk an--also';the Presbytery's resolution expressing regret at the death of., her .'late husband, tho Prime Minister. .
