For trespassing on the New Brighton racecourse, while a race meeting waß_ being Ite-ld, a young man named Frank Ha'lligan, aged 27 years, who did not appear, was convicteH and fined £5, be : 'being a person excluded from the course. 'His "Worship dispensed -with distress, and fixed the default at ono month's imprisonment.
CROSSING CASES. "I think this is a case of gross carelesßness," said the Magistrate when he convicted and fined William Henry Barnett, a middle-aged man; £5 and costs for htviflg, failed to keep a vigilant look-out when approaching the Amberley ' railway crossing. .Barnett pleaded not guilty. It was statedthafr Barnett tad collided with a train. 3tr T. Bell who appeared for Barnett, saTJ. defendant was a married man with a wife and twoj children. Herbert C. Heyder, a middle-aged mai, was convicted and ordered to,pay coats on a, charge ,of'having attempted to cross over' a railway crossing when the line was not' clear. . ■' : DISMISSED. The case in which Gerald Noonan (who appeared) was proceeded' against by Charles Noel did not appear) for sureties of the peace on the ground that he assaulted Barrs, was dismissed and complainant was ordered to pay 7s 6d to Noonan as a halfday's expenses-. AUCKLAND CRIMINAL SESSIONS. , (mess association tkleobam.) AUCKLAND, June 10. At .the Supreme Court, Hugh Griffiths Parry was sentenced to five years' reformative treatment on each of five charges of indecent : assaults on males, the sentences to be'eoncurrent.
