For trespassing on the New Brighton racecourse, while a race meeting waß_ being Ite-ld, a young man named Frank Ha'lligan, aged 27 years, who did not appear, was convicteH and fined £5, be : 'being a person excluded from the course. 'His "Worship dispensed -with distress, and fixed the default at ono month's imprisonment.

CROSSING CASES. "I think this is a case of gross carelesßness," said the Magistrate when he convicted and fined William Henry Barnett, a middle-aged man; £5 and costs for htviflg, failed to keep a vigilant look-out when approaching the Amberley ' railway crossing. .Barnett pleaded not guilty. The case in which Gerald Noonan (who appeared) was proceeded' against by Charles Noel did not appear) for sureties of the peace on the ground that he assaulted Barrs, was dismissed and complainant was ordered to pay 7s 6d to Noonan as a halfday's expenses-.
