Moscow reports that the executions of General Bela.vin, Ivanoff and Madame Krzeozkovska,. who were charged with espionage, have been suspended.
In the House of Commons, ■ Mr Baldwin announced- that the Government had decided to adopt tho recommendation of the committee to impose a. 33 : ',- per cent, ad valorem duty on imports of lace and embroidery of all kinds. A London ca.ble (states, that the following additional Press representatives will visit Australia for the meeting of the Empire Press Union:—Mr F. J. Higginbottom, Loudon "Daily 'Chronicle," Mrs A. Wj Moore, ''Sheffield Telegraph,!.'--and'-Mr Augusto Bartolo, "Malta Chronicle." , - Speaking at the, annual meeting in London of the National Association for the Employment of Regular Sailors, Soldiers, .and Airmen in London, Earl Jollkoe commended to local bodies the example of Auckland in employing discharged sailors from his Majesty's ship Chatham in municipal undertakings. He said nothing could be bettei' than the spirit displayed in this policy. A London message says that 'Arthur Bishop, who was detained in connexion with tho murder of Edward Rix, : butler to Sir George Lloyd, who was, found dead in a basement bedroom%)f the Mayfair residence, has been remanded. Bishop seemed listless and almost sleepy in the dock. The police gayo evidence that Bishon said, "I hit Bix on the head with a chopper."
