MR LYSNAR'S ADDRESS.
(fbess association telegram.)
WELLINGTON, June 9,
Before the Meat. Commission to-day, Mr W. D. Lysnar said, the Meat Board's attitude was to wreck, his company.and wreck him. It had not succeeded, and it- would' not succeed. _ "It will wreck- somebody else as well as me if it ever does succeed," declared Mr Lysnar. • Regarding Mr M.- Myers's statements on behalf of the National Bank, Mr. Lysnar said the former-'s abuse did not call for any comment, except to point out .that the old saying, "If you have no case, abuse the other, side," applied to Mr Myers. Mr Lysnar denied.the suggestions,of Messrs ;Myers. pnd. S.kerrett that, he had taken advantage of .the "political' situation.'' There was not tho slightest justification for those allegations,' as would bei disclosed by the- facts. His sole object had been- to safeguard .the interests of tlie shareholders of the Poverty Bay Farmers' Meat Company and the pro-! ducei-s"of the Dominion as a whole. Mr Lysnar then referred to' interviews he had had with the Hon.. W. Nosworthyi and Sir Francis Bell, and discussions; which had-taken .place in the, House of Representatives.. It had been the Minister of. Agriculture himself who had brought up contentious matter iu con-'' nexion with the transaction when the. Meat Export Bill was before the House. 1 Mr Lysnar was proceeding to deal with certain dealings with the bank when the chairman interposed, stating that ihe Commission had alfeady : spent many, hours, in carefully going through the bank file.
