During examination time_ in the Louisiana University (says a New York cable), a student broke into Professor Turner's room in an attempt to steal examination papers. The professor returned unexpectedly and caught the student redhanded. The student thereupon attacked him with an axe, and inflicted fatal injuries. No arrest has so far been made.
The annual meeting of tho German Colonial Society at Munich passed a resolution strongly protesting against the "theft" of Germany's colonies, and demanding that the- Government ask for their return. Tho resolution requests the Reichstag not to ratify the Anglo-German Commercial Treaty unless anti-Germnn regulations still enforced in British colonies are cancelled.

Melbourne reports that at the enquiry into the explosion at Richmond on April 20th, tho Coroner found that tho premises occupied by Alan John Duignan were wilfully set on fire by Dui«nan and Andrew Nelson, whom he committed for trial. The terrific explosion wrecked the frontages of 33 shops, and did damage to the extent of £30,000. Its force was felt at Hawthorn, two and a half miles away.
