THE GREAT KREISLER.
SATURDAY NIGHT'S RECITAL. . The big musical event of the month will be the flrct appearance in Christcliurcli ol the world's greatest violinist, Fritz Kreisler, who is to give one recital in. the Theatre Hoyal on Saturday next under the direction of Mr E. J. Carroll. The Governor-General with Lady Alice Fergusson and, party, will attend the concert, nntf' the management state that the applications already received for first preference seats are highly gratifying. The • great violinist and musician is an artist that, will Appeal to the great multitude of music lovers to whom he is familiar, not only through his numerous gramophone records but by a number ol his compositions that rank amongst the most popular in the .repertory of the greatest violinists of to-day v The Sydney "Sun" of May 10th, eays.—"Kreisler inoves his ohin on the viplin, caressing it witH his Jcheek, and then • suddenly lifting his head high and away from- the instrument. When ho bows ho clicks his heels together. Hia platform manner is easy, that of a man of the world, conscious''•of hia authority. But one dofes not notice the man so'much as the voice he wakes from his Guanerius. Nobody who wants to hear real violin music should fail to hear Kreisler. We have had .scores of. wonder-children in- the past few years, and one or two good, commercialisms, but since Hugo Herrmann oamo to Sydney, about 30 years ago, we have'had no violinist who convinces one so much that to him art-is a flame of the , spirit, and not aseries ,of parlour tricks or a box office success."
