ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT TO-NIGHT.
■ The first concert of the 1925 season of the Chriatchurch Orchestral Society will be held in the Choral Hall this evening. The Society's full orchestra of -seventy performere will play a magnificent programme, under the baton of the Society's conductor, Mr Angus G\inter. The main orchestral work of the evoning will be the Symphony C Major (Jupiter) (Mozart), and the whole four movements will be played in their entirety. The orchestra will also play overture "Anacroon." (Cherubini), songs without words, "Spring Song" and'"Boating Song" (Men-delssohn-Bartholdy). two pieces for string sections of the orchestra, namely, "Prelude" (Pachulski) and "Valso Lente" (Merikanto), both of which have been scored ifor strings by Mr R. A. Home, the Society's president. The final number of the orchestral portion will be the ever-popular selection from the opera "Faust" (Gounod). The soloist will be Miss- Jessie King, whose numbers will include songs, "In Autumn" (Franz), "llie Young Nun". (Schubert), "Devotion (Schurnann), "Go Down to Kew in Lilac lime (Graham Peel), "As Ever I Saw" (Peter Warlock), "Go Not, Happy Iter (Frank Bridge). The accompanist will be Miss Aileen "Warren. The box plan of reserved seats is npw open at The Bristol, and ad* mission* is 2s. Arrangements nave been, ma-da to have the Choral Hall heated.
