Billiards. "The Lyttelton Club's weekly flying fifty billiards tournament was won by F. Smith, who defeated S. Wales in the final. Weights and Measures Act. All tradesmen and merchants in the port who use scales and weighing machine? should note that an inspector from the Labour Department will be in attendance at the Gas Department's showroom, Oxford street, to-day for the purpose of testing' scales. I Personal. 1 In the Excelsior Hall on Frida.v a very pleasant evening was given by the firm and staff of J. T. Nortons, Ltd., to Miss Elsie Vine, whose marriago takes place shortly. Music and dancing lormed the early part of tho evening's entertainment. A dainty supper was served in the lower dining room, when eulogistic speeches were made Miss Vine's fellow employees. Mr J. T. Norton spoko of the good qualities of Miss Vine, who for eight vcars had been in his employ, and on behalf of the firm' presented her with a- silver sugar and cream set and oak tray, with monogram inscribed. Mr W. 1). Gower, on b-jhalf of the staff, presented Miss Vine with a. clock, suitably inscribed. Miss Vine thanked thoso present for the many good-wishes conveyed to her, and the evening closed with tho singing of "Auld Lang Sync." -_
