N.Z. AND SCHOOL CHILDREN
A USEFUL PUBLICITY CHANNEL. (from ovr ora CORRESPONDENT.) LONDON, May S. It is very evident that publicity through the channels of schools is going to have a useful influence, so keen are the children to know more about the distant countries of the British Empire. In "The Teachers' World" .just lately one little announcement was inserted by the New Zealand Publicity Officer that the Dominion would be glad to let any schools have some photographs to hang in the class-rooms if they were interested in the suggestion. The teachers have simply jumped at the offer, and in a fortnight the High Commissioner's Office had 12C8 applications from all over the country. On one day alone the post-bag brought in requests from 442 teachers. There are not at the moment enough pictures on hand to supply the demand, so a cable has gone to New Zealand for more, of an up-to-date and attractive kind suitable for the purpose. It is not at all unlikely that the subject of New Zealand will be kept in the forefront by the delivery of lanternlectures to the children, if these arc sought. Wembley, this year, is sure to arouse an even more keen desire for information; Mr ,T. Balfour, an official of tho Publicity Department, went to Aylsham, near Norwich, last week, to give a lantern lecture on the Dominion. This took place at the Town Hall, and was attended by a highly appreciative audience. It was at the suggestion of a New Zealand lady living in Norfolk that the address was given. Mr Balfour's next lecture will lie at Felixstowe before an audience of men of the Koyal Air Force. This is one of, tho coastal area stations, and the audience is bound to be an interested one. It is very evident that the work of the Publicity Department has only just begun. It is limited only by the size of its staff.
