18 IN BALLOON RACE.
(ST CABLE—PRESS "ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND, N,Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION./ (Received June Bth, 7.10 p.m.) BRUSSELS, June 7. Crowds witnessed the start of the Gordon-Bennett Balloon Race. There were 18 entrants, including three each from Britain, Prance, Belgium, Spain, and Italy, two from the United States, and one from Switzerland. [The Cup, which- is an endurance contest, was won laßt year by a Belgian pilot who coveted 410 miles and was in the air 43i hours. The ballooning record, 1895 .miles, is held by Germany.]
