MOTOR AND TRAFFIC INSPECTORS.
APPOINTMENTS AUTHORISED.
It was reported to the City Council by the By-laws and Finance Committee la?t night that Section 15 of the regulations gazetted on March 24th, 1925, provided- that inspectors be appointed and given authority to deal with and enforce the provisions govern, ing heavy traffic. Iho committee recommenaed that the hve motor' and traffic inspectors be appointed inspectors under the Act for the purpose above-mentioned, and that the necessary authority under the seal of the Council be issued to them. The committee also stated that Messrs Benge and Clearwater, who were appointed motor and traffic inspectors for a period of three months, had now completed that term, and the committee recommended that they be engaged for a further three months, pending the matter tbeing considered in Connexion with the estimates. The recommendations were approved.
