HAIR BEAUTY WITHOUT TONIC OR SOAP WASHES. If you notice a woman wHh dead-looking dry and brittle hair, you may depend on it she is not particular in avoiding the use of too much <o.lkali, a harsh chemical that never should touch the hair.» If you are one of the few who like to make the most of your hair, —like to make it look heavier than it is, read this: — * ! Really the most elegant and, safe thing to use is ordinary colinated cocoanut oil (a pure saponified, but quite gTeaseless liquid), which is not at all expensive,—but is far, far .better than 6oaps or other scalp-injurious things. Every chemist keeps a supply of this, and a few ounces lasts you and mother, sisters and brothers for months. Just wet the hair with wafer and rub it through,—thoroughly. One or two teaspoonsful ii> plenty to create a big quantity of rich, heavy, creamy lather. It cleanses delightfully, and rinses out easily. The hair dries quickly and easily, and comes out brilliant, soft, fluffy, wavy and fresh as a daisy, looking much thickar than it actually is. Best of all, this colinated cocoanut oil leaves the hair as easy to dress again, as though you hadn't washed it at all. And yet it loosens and carries off every bit of excess oiliness, dust, dirt or dandruff scurf. (IMPORTANT.—Do not confuse Colinated Cocoanut- Oil with cheap and sticky emulsified, concentrated or saponified cocoanut oils, or raw cocoanut oils. There is only ons genuine Colinated Cocoanut Oil, non-greaay, and it is only by the International Laboratories. Look for the maker's name on every bottle to secure satisfaction.) —6

Mr Bamsay Mac Donald, no longer of Downing street, has returned to Hamp-1 stead. There he has bought Upper j Frognal Lodge, a house chosen for its ; capacity to # hold Mr Mac Donald's huge library of books. This house is prac-, tically next door to Bay Tree Lodge, where another great bookman, Sir Wil- i liam Robertson Nicoll, lived and worked [ for many years. The district is alto- j gether charming—one of the most delectable bits of old London saved from I the'speculative builder. ~ •
