CASUALTIES.

A boy named Jack Hunter, 10 years of age, oP 10 Young street, Spreydon, was riding a motor-cycle early on Saturday morning, when he collided with a motor-car and sustained a fractured leg. The accident occurred at the corner of Armagh street and Oxford Terrace. He was removed to the Hospital. At about 1 p.m. on Saturday, a single, middle-aged man named F. Marrow, was knocked down by a tram in Cathedral square. He received a slight cut on the head and concussion, and was admitted to the Hospital.

(r-BESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) AUCKLAND 1 , Juno 7. A woman, whose name lias not yet been ascertained, met her death through being thrown out of a side-car at Remuera this afternoon. The motor-cycle skidded on the wet road and struck a post. The woman was thrown out on her head and died on the way to- the hospital.. GISBORNE, June G. An inquest was opened to-day concerning the death of Catherine Adelaide 'Dunlop, about sixty years of age, wife of J. T. Dunlop, of Te Uaha. Evidence was given that deceased, who was visiting- friends, appeared in the best of spirits the night preceding her death. Dr. Gunn,. who made the post mortem examination, said that deceased had enlargement of the heart. In his opinion death was due to drowning, but the lungs were not nearly so waterlogged as -in an ordinary case of drowning. From this he drew the inference that the woman may have fainted before falling into the' water. The shock of falling into cold water, witli an affected heart, would probably cause the woman to faint. Other evidence was to the effect that tho body was found in a pond created by a dam across a creek, the' dam only having been recently formed. When deceased was staying with friends last time there was no water in that part of the creek. The depth of the pond was only eighteen inches or two feet. The inquest was adjourned for the evidence of the deceased's husband to bo taken.
