ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT.
The first concert of the 1925 season of the Christchurch Orchestral Society be held in the Choral Hall, on Wednesday evening. Tho Society's, fnil orchestral of seventy performers will play a magnificent programme,, under the baton of ; the .Sot. ciety's conductor, Mr Angus Gunter. The main orchestral work of the evening wi.l be the Symphony ■ C Major (Jupiter) (Mozart) and the whole four movements will bo played in their entirety. The orchestra will' also play overture '.'Anacreon j (Cherubim), . songs without "Spring Song" and "Boating Song" (MendeksohnBartholdyi, two pieces for string sections of the orchestra, namely, "Prelude". (Pachulskij and "Valso Lente" (MerskanM, both of which have, been scored for strings by Mr R. A. Home, the Society's president. The final number of the orchestral portion wi'l be tho ever-popular selection from the opera "Faust" (Gounod). The soloist will be Miss Jessie King whose numbers will include son?s, "In Autumn" (Franz), N "The Young Nun" (Schubert). "Devotion' fiSchumann), "Go Down to Kew in Lilac Time' (Graham Peel), "As Ever I Saw" {Peter Warlock), "Go Not, Happy Day (Frank Bridge). The accompanist will ,be Miss Aileen ■• Warren.. The box'plan of resened seats will be opened at The Bristol this (Monday) morning, at 9 a.m. ■_ j
