KREISLER'S RECITAL.

NEXT SATURDAY. The interest in the preferential plans now open at The Bristol' for Kreisler, generally acclaimed as the world's'greatest living-vio-linist j is, exceeding all anticipations, and gjowing reports in the same conrfexiqn are being received from the other centres of the Dominion, where Kreisler is to appear. The Christchurch recital will be given in the Theatre Royal on Saturday next, under tho direction of E. J. Carroll. Their _ Ex-cellencies.-the Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson, with a Government House party, will attend. ' Kreisler's programme will probably, include, the Mendelssohn Concerto, the Kreutier Sonata, the Bach Suite in B, Handel's Sonata in A, G'reig's Sonata in C, the Tschaikowsky Concerto in D, Tartini's "Devil's.Trill" Sonata, 'and a collection of the miscellaneous works which; it is his custom to group at tho end of his. recitals, and in- which he revete with inimitable grace, and delicacy.' KreialerdTaws packed houses in all the cities o? Europe and America.. Indeed, if one desires to 'hear him one is obliged to apply for ticket weelcs beforehand. When Kreisler gaye a recital in London last May the huge Albert Hall was crammed. A great contrast-there is between these enthusiastic scenes and those of ,his student days in Vienna, when he sat at a. cafe table and .talked of what tho future might bring him and his cronies —Arthur Schnitzler,' the author, and Hugo Wolf composer of songs, destined to; take their place in the' world's literature, Otto Weiningen, also an author, and Monz Rosenthal, then a young man, still to make his mark in the world. Kreißler modestly sayß of that group: "I was the least talented of them all," but the world's au4iences to-day in the' most' discriminating art centres of the world refuse to agree with his dictum. , . ■
