' DRUNKENNESS. . • A-man, who' had been bailed but of the lock-up on Friday night on a oharge of drunkenness, was convicted and fined 20s, in default 48 hours in gaol. TIIiAKU YOUTH CHARGED. A remand till Saturday next was granted in the ease in which a Timaru youth named Thomas briacoll, aged 18 years, was charged with having obtained £3 14s Gd from Herb. Gibson said the "young fellow was -put on. probation iii Timaru some time ago for theft. His parents were in Timaru, and the Chief-Detective said they would be communicated with while Driscoll was on remand. BEGGED ALMS. Constables A. J. Browii and G. Peddie (who were in plain clothes at thfe time) arrested the accused in High street after he had approached and asked them to ''give an old sdldier the prioe of a feed." His Worship convicted and sentenced Dolati to three months' imprisonment.
