Hogg, orchard inspector of Nelson, in the course of. ;an address ,on marketing conditions, said;that he-had noticed that there was a great deal of "blackspot" in apples in Canterbury this year. This was the/reason' that such a large number of '.notices had been issued during the season, /fend he assured those present that such notices had not been set out unless there was a well-founded complaint, against that particular consignment of fruit. "Ho stressed the necessity of growers complying with the regulations in" marking affected fruit before sending it to the market. . The past season, he said, had been a poor one from the grower's point of view, and crops all over the Dominion had not been up to expectations. Packing and grading .had improved right throughout New Zealand, and he urged growers to send as much fruit as possible overseas. Prices in overseas markets had been exceedingly favourable for New Zealand fruit, arid were much, better than those offered in the Dominion. At the conclusion of his address a voto of thanks was passed to Mr Hogg.
