HORSLEY DOWN SCHOOL.
PRIZE-GIVING. The annual prize-giving ceremony .in connexion with the- Horsley Downs school took place in the H'awardcn Hall last week. The prizes were distributed by Mr W. L. Wright, chairman of the school committee. After the ceremony! the children were entertained at afternoon tea by the committee and their wives'. The following- is the prize list:— Special Prizes.—Standard VI.: First in proficiency. Jessie Galletly; general excellence, Merle Davey. Standard V.: First in class, James Gornrhell. Standard IV.: First in class, Stanley Davey; general excellence, Arnold Thomas. Standard III.: First in class, Laurie Thomas; second, George Wright. Standard II.: First in olass, Doiothy Thomas; second, Eva Miles. The following wore awarded prizes for diligence, conduct, or attendance: —Standard VI.: Jessie Galletly, Merie Davey, Clarence Smith. Standard V.: Jack Donohue, J-nssie Croft, James Gemmell, Jean Fisher, Elva .Croft. Standard IV.: Stanley Davey, Arnold Thomaß, Lily Waters. Standard III.: Laurie Thomas, George Wright, Ray Davey, Mavis Croft,- Ray Hoban, Mildred Wright, George Holder, Mervyn Quinlivan. Standard II.: Dorothy Thomas, Eva Miles.-Gil-bert Donohue, Delia Staunton, Oscar Hoban. Standard I.: Leslie Dwyer, Fred Quinlivan, Verdun Quinlivan, Frank Staunton, Tom Staunton, Ralph Watson, Irene Donohue, Mary Shelley, Noelle Hoban, Thelma Wateon."
