Judge Crawford, whose chair at the Edmonton County Court collapsed owing to old age—it had seen-40 years' service—some weeks ago, has got a new one. which has been through the test of bearing the combined weight of seven men. The judge is over 6ft in height, and when first the Office of Works replaced the broken chair he declined to sit in the new arrival, declaring it was fit only for a junior clerk, and threatening to write to the Lord Chancellor unless a chair was supplied befitting the dignity of one of his Majesty's judges.
