PRICE OF BREAD REDUCED.
MASTER BAKERS* DECISION. Following on the reduction of £1 par ton in the price of flour-, the Canterbury Master Bakers' Association has decided to reduce tho price of bread by Jd on the 41b loaf. The present price of the loaf is Is Id cash over coumte>r or Is 2d delivered. Tho master bakers .considered the matter at a . special meeting held on Saturday night, Mr C. E. Boon being in the chair, and the reduction was adopted after little diseussion. It Wag stated that the bakers would be losing 7s 6d as the -}d reduction per i4lb loaf meant 27s 6d less profit on a (ton of flour, but that the public expected a reduction, and the only course open Was to give it. The 21b loaf at present costs did cash over the Counter, or 7d delivered, and \th«(te prices will be reduced by -id. i " . j (wpicui. to "thb Mttii.") | DUNBDIN, May 2. ! There does not appeal' to be any ! likelihood of a reduction in the price ■of bread in Dtittedin, for the reason that bread is selling a.t the presebt time cheaper than in the north. The i 4lb loaf is sold here ot Is cfifih over the counter, and Is Id delivered," so even if a reduction of id and M is made in Christehureh bread will still be cheaper in Dunedih. Again, tlieprice of flour has been reduced to £lB per ton in Christohitnch, but, local Hikers, will have to pay £lB 10s o<3r ton for it, ii ii in i in. ry j«
