The quality of the wort throughout i* fine, and altogether, the show is thoroughly cnjoya-blc. As a spectacle, "San loy leaves little to be desired. Ito Oriental atmosphere l cnc ] s admirably in such a_ connexion, and the scenes are a. wealth or colour. The scenery and wardrobe, considered irom all angles, are excellent, and provide .1 feast for the eye.. Thev were previously used in the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's production. The plot of "San Toy" is of the love of an English officer for the daughter of a Chinese mandarin, a>.:d of the experiences the couple go through before they are allowed to many. There is a lot of Oriental scheming done and for a time San Toy, who is the daughter referred to, passes as a bey.
