It was brought under the notice of <'Roadster" the other day, however, that a driver of a car who suddenly had the experience of the Inspector's spotlight being flashed from the side of the road into his face, thought someone was having a joke with him and con--Bequ.en.tly did not dim his lights as he should have done, his omission resulting in bis being served with a summons, Motorists wishing to avoid trouble in this connexion should, therefore, realise the importance of dimming their headlights when tho spotlight is flashed on thcmi ' Advice has been received that the Bealey Plver is clear for motorists. Latest advice concerning the Sclwyn is that that river is fordablo at Uororata, and at the Mnin South road. The Le Bon's Bay roads are in fairly good order in spite of the heavy rains a bfeorb time ago. From Durauobelles to the Summit tho road is very good, with the exception pf pne or two place;, whore a stream has washed right across. The Summit road is. very rough, and in tho places where there is no metal it needs careful driving after any vain, From tho Summit to lie Bon's Bay the road ia goo<l with the exception of a few loose watches. From tho Bay to Akaroa, the Summit is very rough, but the Lonji; Bay road is fairly good, except in one long etreteh, where there is no metal.
