LONDON, April 23.
' Sir A. H. Goldfinch's revised e*ti- | mate of the world's stocks of n* wool at January Ist, 1925, is about 2,800,900,000 lb, as compared with about 4,000,000,000 lb on January Ist, 1921. He estimates the consumption from 1931 to 1933 as about 8,500,000,000 lb. Tie production for 1924, excluding Turkey and Bnssia, was from 2,500,000,000 to 2,550,000,000 lb. The world's supply now available is less than the average consumption in 1921, 1922, and 1923, about 300,000,000 lb per annum. Sir A. H. Goldfinch adds: "Comparing the stock on January Ist, 1925, with the stoek on January Ist, 1921, it is evident that there is no abnormal stock in any country this year. The trading stocks in the United States are much lower than in 1921. On tbe other hand, they are somewhat lawr in France, Germany, and Poland." He points out that the new clips from the Southern Hemisphere have been marketed to a decidedly larger extent than in 1921. On January Ist of that year only 22 per ccrt. of the Australian clip had been shipped, and 85 per cent, lav in the warehouses, wherea* on January Ist, 1925, the figures were 47 per cent, and 43 per eent. respectively. In the Argentine and Uruguay, the figures also show a more liquid position in 1925 than in 1921. Sir A. H. Goldfinch concluded: "My last word is that half the world's clip has disappeared."
