INFANTILE PARALYSIS.

ALL RESTRICTIONS LIFTED.

SCHOOLS REOPEN TO-DAY. In view of a favourable report forwarded on Friday morning; by Dr. 1. Fletcher Telford, Medical Officer of Health for the Canterbury and West Coast Health Districts. Cabinet decided later on the same day to approve ot' the removal of the epidemic restrictions in the Canterbury Education District as from Saturday morning. The Canterbury Education Board has directed that iUfpnHVT schools in the district shall re-open this morning. There may l>e a few outlying country schools where the teacher is away, and may not be able to return by to-day. These will be the only ones where business will not be carried on as usual this morning. Dr. Telford stated last night that the attendance of children at tho various schools would not be compulsory. Ho further said that children living in home in which the disease had shown itself, would still be subject to the 14 days' quarantine restrictions.

Latest Notifications. On Friday, at noon, tho Medical Officer of Health had received one notification of a suspected case of infantile paralysis. Boy, seven months, St. Asaph street, ' Linwood.

Of previou6ly notified cases, the following have been diagnosed as positive :

Boy. three and a half years, North Beach. Girl, three years. Waifcohi. Boy, three years, Fairlio. Girl, two years and 11 months, Cheviot.

The following case has been diagnosed as negative:

Boy, two years and a half, Cranford street.

TWO SUSPECTED CASES.

The Health Department has been notified of two suspected eases for the week-end up till 10 o'clock last night. Particulars are as follows: — Boy, five months, Puriri street, Eiccarton.
