CYCLING.
MAIREHAU SPORTS CLUB. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Mairehau Sports Club was held at Mr W. J. Walter's residence, Mairehau, on Thursday. The president, Mr W. J. Walter, presided, and there were also present—Messrs G. Henderson, J. Martin, S. Meynell, C. W. Oborn, P. C. Lucas, and L. Mortlock (secretary). An oppn Toad race over * distance of twenty miles was arranged for Saturday, May 9th, when £9 will be distributed amongst the prize-winners. Arrangements were also made to hold a twenty-five mile open road race_ on May 23rd. The prizes for this event were l*ft over until a later date. jr The secretary was instructed to apply to the Centre "for permission to hold a, fifty-mile Canterbury championship at Mairehau on Saturday, May 30th, the course to start from the comer of Briggs and Hill s roaxls, along Shirley, Marshland, Preston s, and Hill's roads, the- block _to be traversed eight times. A prize list with prizes of a total rvalue of over .-£6O was drawn up, the blue ribband for Canterbury road , champion to be awarded the winner of the fastest time. Further arrangements in connexion witn the race wero left over until a future meet--IDMr L. Jv Scuffell, a member of the committee, who had removed to wrote resigning his seat on the' c™ tte £ The secretary was instructed to write thank ing him for his past services.
