TATIMAIIUNUI, April 23

A fire broke out at 8.30 last evening in a large 21-Toomed boarding establishment, "Harwood House," owned by Mrs Chcadlc, of Auckland, and occupied by Mrs Gore. The fire started in tho sleeping portion at the rear, and spread with lightning rapidity to the rear and sleeping portions, which were gutted. Mrs Gore was singed about the hair by the flames in making her escape. The insurance on tho building is unavailable, but the furniture was insured for £450.

MURCHISON, April 22. Tho Murchison Public Library, which was being used as a schoolroom for the second and third classes, was totally destroyed by fire at 11 a.m. to-day. The children were got out in good time. The building was insured in the Norwich Union Office, but the amount is not available. A largo quantity of valuable library books were destroyed.

SIX BUILDINGS DESTROYED

SYDNEY, April 23,

A fire at Warianda destroyed six buildings and caused extensive damage. The origin is unknown.
